Nevada Gold Mines emerges by combining assets and workforce in the recent Newmont Barrick joint venture. The company will boast the richest gold reserves in the world and will include four of the 10 largest gold mines in the world, according to CEO Mark Bristow. Mining and community leaders including Chamber CEO Billie Crapo were on hand for a company announcement in downtown Elko.
The Community Foundation of Elko County is hosting giving opportunities to benefit local projects of importance to rural Nevadans. Teri Gage is Chair of the Fund Advisory Committee, and along with Fund Committee Member Katie Neddenriep appeared on “Elko, Live” to discuss the history of the foundation, how to contribute, and outlined the grant process. Gage also provided an update on Lion’s Camp Lamoille fundraising efforts to restore the historic site destroyed by a wildfire in 2017. To date: $416K has been raised toward rebuilding.
