The Community Foundation of Elko County is hosting giving opportunities to benefit local projects of importance to rural Nevadans. Teri Gage is Chair of the Fund Advisory Committee, and along with Fund Committee Member Katie Neddenriep appeared on “Elko, Live” to discuss the history of the foundation, how to contribute, and outlined the grant process. Gage also provided an update on Lion’s Camp Lamoille fundraising efforts to restore the historic site destroyed by a wildfire in 2017. To date: $416K has been raised toward rebuilding. The group hosts an annual meeting on February 18th, 2020 and invites the community to attend at the Western Folklife Center.
Nevada Office of Traffic Safety PIO Andrew Bennett was a guest on “Elko, Live!” and discussed a variety of subjects related to safe driving on Nevada highways and roadways. The Zero Fatalities Program is a statewide initiative to preserve driver and pedestrian lives. The goal is to raise awareness and emphasize that most fatal accidents are avoidable. From buckling up to avoiding distractions, it’s also important to slow down and plan ahead in inclement weather. Bennett offered several tips for safe driving during the
