Elko County Commissioner Delmo Andreozzi discussed a variety of issues in advance of the county meeting to include reaction to SB 316 as well as early concern on the recent unanimous Nevada Supreme Court ruling to require jury trials for those accused of misdemeanor Domestic Violence. The commissioner also discussed county support for Next Gen 911 services, the Elko County Ambulance training plans, and a salary study for county employees with a goal to enhance equitable wages and commensurate salaries.
Western Folklife Center co-founder Hal Cannon recalls the first National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko. The Gathering attracts thousands of artists and visitors to the area in late January and early February. Sitting down with Lori Gilbert, Cannon talked about the future of the 35-year-old event. The historic Pioneer Hotel at 5th and Railroad is headquarters for the Western Folklife Center and home to the Weigand Gallery, G Three Bar Theatre and year-round gift shop.
