The Elko County Democratic Central Committee are hosting a statewide meeting and the bi-annual Roosevelt-Kennedy Fundraising Dinner on Saturday, November 9th at the Elko Conference Center. Elko City Mayor Reece Keener talked about the proposal for a Youth Challenge program for 16-18 dropout students to be hosted by the Nevada National Guard at the Nevada Readiness Center near Carlin. The 17-month program includes a residency and offers at-risk youth from across the state a chance to excel in a military and police academy environment while earning high school credits toward graduation.
