The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is leading up a country wide Border 2 Border (B2B) seatbelt enforcement campaign on May 20th to reduce fatalities on our roadways.  “Our goal is to have zero fatalities in Nevada, and by wearing our seatbelts we can get to that goal” says Lt. Tony Roth with the NHP.

The Nevada Highway Patrol along with Lander, Humboldt, White Pine, and Elko Sheriff’s Departments, and the West Wendover and Winnemucca Police Departments, will be Joining Forces and looking for drivers and passengers that are not wearing their seatbelts.

Not only is our Northeastern Nevada Joining Forces team doing this, but we also have Utah Highway Patrol, Utah Wendover Police Department, Utah Tooele County Sheriff’s Department, and Utah Grantsville Police Department joining in the enforcement of seatbelt use.

Seatbelts saves lives, and it only takes 2 seconds to put it on.  In 2017, NHTSA reported over 10,000 people losing their lives by not wearing their seatbelt.  Nevada Law enforcement works thousands of crashes every year and many of those drivers and passengers are injured or killed because of not wearing a belt.

So let’s make the right decision, and take 2 seconds to buckle up.  It might save your life!!
