Donel Ward facilitates, “Addict to Artist,” weekly meetings at the Elko Art Gallery at 406 Railroad Street. Join the group Sundays at 4 PM to explore creativity and expression in a safe and supportive atmosphere. Ward is a therapeutic arts coach who talks about the benefits of art therapy to include boosting self-awareness, self-esteem and emotional resilience. Families and supporters are welcome to attend the free sessions.

Zero Suicides Elko County – Lynette Vega

Survivors of Suicide Loss facilitator Lynette Vega has co-founded a working group in Elko to generate awareness of suicide and to support prevention efforts. “Zero Suicides,” includes local professionals on the front lines of responding to families in crisis. Recent efforts include tracking death by suicide, as well as attempts and overdoses. Vega is an educator and supports legislation to require suicide awareness and prevention be included in public school
