Lori Gilbert has been a radio broadcaster in Elko for more than 30 years. As host of the weekday radio show, “Elko, Live!” she interviews local and statewide guests on a variety of topics, keeping the community informed on emerging and ongoing issues.
Gilbert’s weekday news reports have been a continuous, trusted source of local information.
Gilbert serves on the Board of Directors for the Committee Against Domestic Violence, the Nevada Arts Council, PBS Reno, and the STARS Committee for the Elko County School District.

Elko City Police Chief Kyle Ward and Elko County Sheriff Aitor Narvaiza were guests to talk about a variety of topics from a DV Homicide under investigation to the use of license plate readers to solve crimes. There have been numerous burglaries of homes and vehicles in an Elko neighborhood, and the pair promoted the National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4th in the Main City Park from 5-8 p.m.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Pastor Julie Vice, was a guest to talk about the non-profit food pantry, “The Table.” Donors have fed hundreds of individuals and families, from senior citizens to children, since the inception of the program in 2025. A choral music group from the Elko area has been invited to perform as part of an ensemble at Carnegie Hall. “Voices” President Valerie Sargeant and Emily Croft, Secretary, and Patty Fisk, Choir Member of the non-profit talk about being chosen for a Carnegie Hall ensemble performance in May 2027. Fundraising will include local performances.

Assistant City Manager Dale Johnson and Street Superintendent Paul Algerio were guests with an update on summer street projects, capital purchases and the operation of a new sewer lift station at Exit 298. The city is also researching issues that have recently raised public concern, from a proposal to install Flock surveillance cameras to the inclusion of Eminent Domain as a tool to clean up derelict properties.

Ebin Price directs a local production of “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals,” made viral by StarKid Productions. Ebin’s famous mom, Sandy Beeler, was also a guest to promote art and local theatre in our community. The show runs July 10-12 at The Stage Door in downtown Elko.
