(August 7, 2020) – Elko BLM District Manager Gerald Dixon hosted local Fire Prevention specialist Clint Mothershed to talk about expanded fire restrictions on public lands statewide. More than 80-percent of wild land fires so far this year have been human-caused. Hunting season, camping, recreating and any number of public uses enhances the opportunity for an accidental fire start. BLM officials discussed fire prevention, fire resources and the importance of protecting and preserving public lands for multiple use.

On Friday January 22nd Northeastern Nevada Regional Development Authority Executive Director Sheldon Mudd talked about the agency endeavors to promote economic stability and expansion while influencing policy making including workforce and housing decisions. NNRDA also announced a new business incubator known as MineConnect, a mining support and service association located in Ontario, Canada and their plans to expand in Elko.
