Elko BLM District Manager Gerald Dixon, Fire Mitigation Specialist Clint Mothershed and BLM Supervisory Staff Ranger Carrie Wostal were guests to discuss local land management issues. Elko is in a severe drought anticipated to impact high elevations with increased fire danger. The Elko office is looking to fully staff the California Trail Interpretive Center as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted this summer. Dumping on public lands remains a concern with costs, hazardous exposure and lack of staff to monitor the occurrence.
