The City Redevelopment Agency met August 27 and discussed the Downtown Corridor Sidewalks Project which was tabled in April. The board voted to approve the design plans with a goal to solicit bids in time for Spring 2025 construction. The board also approved the 2024-25 Infrastructure Grant Program.
Elko City Council discussed the latest public nuisance to come before the board. Neighbors described being fearful and inundated with trash, safety concerns and hazardous conditions within the Shady Elms Mobile Home Park on Grant Avenue in the vicinity of So. 5th Street. The council also recognized Dr. Bill Wright for ongoing contributions to LASSO and the Animal Shelter and thanked Administrative Assistant Kim Wilkinson for her years of service as she is retiring this month.
